Goals for Oct. 2016 and Beyond Since the seasons are changing again, this also means flu season and lethargy and depressed mood that may come with it. So I will be focusing my supplement stack in this direction to ensure I cover any gaps in this area. Though the ZMA and Ester-C will cover my vitamin C and […]
Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera)
Ashwagandha is the root of the flower Withania somnifera, and has been used in Ayurvedic tradition for years to treat a number of ailments. Ashwagandha has also been scientifically vindicated for its effects as an adaptogen, an anxiolytic (anxiety reducer) and an aphrodisiac.
Ashwagandha's adaptogenic and anxiety reducing effects stem from its actions on the GABA system, leading one to feel more calm and collected.
Ashwagandha's aphrodisiac and sexual effects also come from its effects on the GABA system, but also from its ability to reduce prolactin, a hormone which can lower dopamine and hence lower sex drive. Thus, ashwagandha can help maintain beneficial levels of dopamine and other hormones.

I’ve introduced some newer ones but a lot of the same substances are still […]
A Silly Review of Now Sports’ Dutch Chocolate Pea Protein
I am personally not a huge fan of protein powders, and protein powder is not something I have explored in depth myself (yet). Nevertheless, they are a fantastic way to ensure you get enough protein to fit your macros for the day. But a lot of powders out there just suck. Some of them just taste downright […]
Pill Scout’s Supplement Regimen – March/April 2016
For those who are late to the party, this is just a journalized update of the supplement regimen of yours truly. Compared to February’s post, I have missed the month of March so I’ve combined the two together. As you will see, I have added a few more goals and conditions to improve or maintain, […]
Pill Scout’s Supplement Regimen – February 2016
For those of you who are new here, and for returning readers, I plan to create a monthly update on my supplement regimen and goals. In the past, I kept mainly mental notes of my goals and supplement regimens, which probably caused a considerable amount of disorganization. I change this now by creating this sort […]
