In this post, I will briefly touch upon what the Uridine Stack is, what it’s supposed to do, my experiences with it, and a couple tips you might need should you decide to try it out. The Uridine Stack has become one of the more talked-about stacks on Reddit and throughout the net with many favorable reviews.
What does the Uridine Stack benefit?
According to the original thread at Longecity containing dozens and dozens of sources that one could spend a couple of hours trawling through 1, the Uridine Stack can supposedly benefit the following over the short term and long term:
- Improved and stabilized mood
- Reducing stress and anxiety
- Modulating or stabilizing dopamine release
- Improvement of sleep and sleeping patterns
- Tons of other benefits to brain, cellular, mitochondrial and neuron health
Reportedly uridine can also potentiate the effects of stimulants such as caffeine or nicotine, but one Reddit thread has found this to be a little implausible or at least not true in their experiences. 2
What is Mr. Happy’s Uridine Stack?
“Mr. Happy” is the username of the Longecity poster that first devised this stack and collected the research behind it. He has been taking one form of the stack or another since its inception c. 2011.
Most variants of the stack include some form of uridine, fish oil and a choline source that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Adjuncts like folate (vitamin B9) and vitamin E are also suggested, folate in particular as uridine accelerates RNA synthesis and this process may use up additional vitamin B9.
The uridine is reportedly the workhorse behind the stack and is associated with many of the benefits reported by people who take it.
Where to get the Uridine Stack
You can easily make your own, you just need a form of uridine, fish oil and some form of choline.

Uridine Monophosphate (UMP) or Triacetyluridine (TAU)?
Uridine Monophosphate is the type included in Powder City’s stack and seems to be the more commonly used variation of uridine that is water-soluble and can (and should, in my opinion) be taken sublingually. Sublingual doses are reportedly much stronger than oral, as in the case of Noopept. I like this one since you can titrate the dosage as desired.
Triacetyluridine is lipid-soluble form of uridine and is not absorbed very well sublingually. However, its oral bioavailability is much better than UMP. You may want to take this one with a little fatty food or oil. Good if you don’t want to hold the stuff under your tongue for a few minutes.
How to take the Uridine Stack
Here are MrHappy’s recommendations straight from the thread 3 (formatted by me):
For the first 2 weeks:
- 150-250mg UMP, orally, twice per day
- A *good* multi vitamin, that includes RDA of B-group Vitamins and a broad range of trace minerals, including magnesium
- 500IU of mixed vitamin E [ed. – already in the above link]
- A large dose of fish oil with >700mg DHA + >300mg EPA (or 3000mg ALA / flaxseed oil, if you are vegetarian)
After 2 weeks:
When taking Uridine Monophosphate (UMP) sublingually, I hold the stuff under my tongue for up to 10 minutes. Most of the flavor should be gone save for any undissolved powder that may have settled.
My initial experiences with the Uridine Stack
When I first got the Uridine Stack from Powder City, admittedly I only ordered it because it was new to me. Through skimming, I knew none of the components were unsafe in the recommended doses, but I had no idea what it was meant to benefit and only took a first dose before learning more about it. (Hence the importance of always doing your research.)
Every time I take the uridine (UMP) sublingually, I notice that it tends to clear out any brain fog very effectively within the hour. Mood and motivation tend to be made very stable for the following 4 to 6 hours. Because of the apparent short-term effects, I could see uridine on its own becoming a mainstay in my daily supplement regimen.
The fish oil on its own is good to have in general 4, as most of us do not get enough Omega-3 in our diets to begin with. The benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids seem to be more long-term than short-term, but the piles of research out there already support taking it.
I unfortunately did not heed the warning to take the Alpha-GPC after two weeks. I took it the first day and decided to leave it out after a while as it did not help me. I will need to restart the regimen with this and see how it goes, because I believe the Alpha-GPC can mess up my mood. Your mileage may vary however.
I was not worried about the B vitamins (specifically the folate/vitamin B9) or the trace minerals as I already get some form of those through supplements and/or juicing as of late.
I also did not notice any changes in sensitivity to stimulants when taking uridine, bearing in mind that I am already fairly sensitive and maintain a low tolerance to them.
The Uridine Stack is an excellent concept with plenty of sound reasoning and research to back its theories, and I believe that in spite of all the additional research that it requires before it could be considered as an actual treatment, its reception has been overwhelmingly favorable and has anecdotally yielded plenty of the benefits that research on uridine and the other stack components have suggested it would.
